Zar is building the next generation of coaching tools for esports players. We leverage machine learning to provide comprehensive support to gamers in their quest for progression and self-achievement.

We are a passionate team of gamers that have been playing for more than 20 years, and are veteran players of League of Legends, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike. We quickly realized that no matter how much time we spent watching Youtube videos, browsing stats websites or reading written guides, we didn’t improve as fast as we wanted. That is why we are bringing comprehensive real-time coaching to esports in order to help players master the highly complex games they love.

Opportunity

Zar is looking for a talented Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the team on its adventure.

Your job will consist in developing a thorough understanding of video games’ data, performing featuring engineering, exploring solutions, assessing models performance and contributing to the definition and deployment of the overall ML strategy. As one of the first employees, you will take ownership of a crucial part of our product and will bring essential knowledge to the team to help it achieve its goals. You will work closely with the founders, have a great amount of freedom in your choices and play a determinant role in the early development of our platform.

We are looking for a passionate and talented candidate that will fit well within the team and the rapidly evolving startup environment. You should be very familiar with main esports games, especially with League of Legends, as our MVP is developed on it. You should have a can-do attitude, be willing to get yourself outside of your comfort zone and have very good communication skills in English. As the team is entirely made of video game lovers, we would love for you to share that passion with us.

Responsibilities:
Work closely with the founding team to design and implement state of the art machine learning solutions that will be used to coach our users.

• Identify and set best practices for data science and machine learning engineering.
• Effectively communicate strategy, objectives, and performance results cross-functionally.

Position Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Extensive experience with Python 3, data frameworks (numpy, pandas, …) and some of the main ML frameworks (scikit, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, fastai, ...).
• Proven record of researching and applying ML solution to real-world problems
• Passion for video games and knowledge about LoL/Dota 2
• Professional work ethic coupled with sound judgment
• Experience working in a rapid growth environment that requires flexibility and continuous innovation aka you’re a fast learner, and you feel comfortable being uncomfortable.
• Ability to “roll up your sleeves” to do what is needed in urgent situations while maintaining a “big-picture” view. You are excited about the idea of working with a small team to get the job done, even if you sometimes need to do things that are outside of your direct job description.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English
